Have done a full system scan using AVG in safe mode, a few files were "locked"? but I don't think any virus's were found. I have disabled automatic restarts to try and overcome this but it didn't help and the computer is still slow. General computer use has been slow, with the occasional popup, and not it's gotten to the stage that windows does a 60-second shutdown. It takes a while to load up, in particular the desktop icons take a few minutes before showing. Been having problems with my computer lately.
